Estonian hydrogen technology company PowerUP Energy Technologies, in collaboration with Norwegian partners, is introducing a novel 10,000 W power energy system to the market, supplying clean energy to the construction and mining sectors. The UPMobile, composed of a hydrogen fuel cell and a lithium-ion super battery, offers an alternative to diesel generators.
The Estonian startup PowerUP Energy Technologies, along with Norwegian partners Nordic Batteries AS and Beyonder AS, is introducing a unique energy system to the market, providing a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. The goal of the project, supported by the Estonia-Norway cooperation program “Green ICT,” is to create a portable generator with a 10,000 W capacity based on hydrogen fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries, supplying clean energy to high-energy-demand industries, primarily the construction and mining sectors.
The innovative energy system UPMobile uses compressed hydrogen as fuel, which does not pollute the environment and is therefore an ideal replacement for polluting and heavy diesel generators. Unlike diesel generators, hydrogen generators are virtually maintenance-free. Another significant advantage of using hydrogen-based energy is energy independence from countries producing fossil fuels, which is increasingly relevant given today’s geopolitical situation.
In addition to the hydrogen fuel cell, UPMobile also includes a high-power lithium-ion battery, allowing the generator to provide up to 100 kW of power for applications that require high energy consumption for a limited time, such as construction lifts. The hydrogen fuel cell efficiently covers up to 10 kW of continuous low-power demand. This approach not only reduces emissions but also offers a more efficient and cost-effective solution than current options.
